Highlights:
This latest collection of 2012 has recreated the look that Pringle brand is known for, the archived look and the graffiti layers, that too with a twist. All the earth tones have been used. The collection mainly featured burgundy and tan coloured twin sets with a twisted decorated design on front. The collars and seams are also twisted. The sweaters were presented in a classic Scottish argyle, which were dazzled with acid colour crystals. The classic construction and clean tailoring of the brand has been followed in this collection also. But, may be the graffiti prints are somewhat different for which the brand has created its niche in the market.
The clothes give out the featured masculine and strong look i.e. in triple set: a chunky cashmere sweater, a coat paired with thin legged socks. In this collection more of a series of black and burgundy dresses are made that are long and are very feminine.
The shoes have been designed by Carr in collaboration with shoe designer Chrissie Morris. They both have given a different look by layering them with leather panels that can also be pulled off.
The pants have been given the graffiti print. The idea of which has been taken from an image the designer snapped at Paris street art. The designer wanted to give a twisted look to the archived classic knit pieces, so he did, as he told about his latest offerings in an interview to style.com. He said, "I looked at the classic knit pieces in the archive and wanted to twist things up a bit.” Carr replaced the classic twinset with a triplet set: a coat ,a sweater and a sleek trouser. The seams and sweaters have literally been given a twist in Pringle, they have been amplified by colored crystals.
Alistar Carr the designer of the Pringle of Scotland pre fall 2012, has spent four years at Balenciaga. This is his third collection for Pringle. He has proven his creativity and continues to show his creative talents at the luxury knitwear brand, Pringle of Scotland. In March, Carr spoke to Vogue in an interview relating his move to the Pringle of Scotland. He said, "He was going to take things, question them, and look at them from different angle. He further added that he had learned all this from the creative director of Balenciaga Nicolas Ghesquier."
Pringles of Scotland pre fall 2012 was a treat for those who follow fashion and comfort also and do not compromise on their personal comfort at the cost of fashion. The clothes presented were fashionable, with ultra modern cuts and decorated with different stuffs. The animal print triplet set with a long coat, and trousers in print and sleek sweater was quite presentable. The look can be carried anywhere. All the designs presented are opening doors to a new fashion era. The looks are going to be followed not only in western countries but also in most of the countries where winters are falling.
Over all the Pringle of scotland pre fall 2012 seemed to be a successful event which lasted its impressions for many designers yet to come this season. The colour choice and the fabric cuts were simply outstanding. Moreover, the use of the cuts have given a very different look with the use of the old fifties pattern buttons that have made a very powerfull designing collection. The designing in twin sets or triple sets in graffiti layering, with earthy colors made it look even more different.
