Versace’s eagerly anticipated 2012 Fall/ Winter Collection was sportingly unveiled during Milan’s renowned Fashion Week. Our fashion sleuths spotted some exquisite, minimalistic pieces; however, the collection wasn’t only deluged with understated trend. With a perfect amalgamation of downplayed and offensively bold winter lineup, Versace kept the runway and also the entire event swirling around its outlandish creation.

Whether it was the off-kilter patterns that delighted your fashion conscious mind or the furry inclusion that sets your temperature soaring, the entire collection was nothing but an expected fashion spell that kept us mesmerized. Giving the Versace’s signature elaboration technique a demure hint, an array of extravagant filaments was revealed by the Versace’s creative director Donatella Versace with runway models wearing studs, sequins and much more. The collection was highly appreciated by almost every fashion critic who exclusively came to witness Versace’s wizardly domination on fashion world. However, there was nothing in the collection that was worth embracing by the regular fashion freaks. To know more about this Italian fashion house’s upcoming range, keep on reading.

The highlights of Versace’s 2012 Fall/ Winter collection

The collection kicked off with a subtle yet flattering ensemble that featured studded blue denim and a red tank underneath the accouterments, which described all the masculine elements that any man’s wardrobe demands. In an attempt to induce co-ordination with camouflaged floral, Versace included the floral pieces for a perfect spring makeover. Finally, welcoming more glitz and candidness to the ruff-and-tough persona of men, was this exquisite sequined evening wear. Despite the incorporation of sequins in this menswear, the outfit didn’t lack any touch of masculinity and tough glamor.

Thumbs up

When you are expecting something from Versace, and especially from its menswear collection, you are also expecting the elusiveness that Versace usually delivers through its outfits. Staying loyal to its subtle approach to menswear collection, Versace introduced some distinctive trends for winter. But, it will also take a loyal fashion freak to impersonate the rapper-cum-runway look. It was the bright colors, floral suits, crystal bold shirts and gold embellished denim that summed up the show and made the collection a little close to something wearable.

Versace brought the 90s charm to its head-to-toe gold studded, floral and silk pajama suits that are believed to be the hottest trend for the next fall. Elaboration and detailing were on its peak when ensembles like shirt and gold buttoned hats were showcased on the runway teamed up with coiffed hair and heavy chains. To balance up the look and maintain the neutrality of the collection, masculine accessories such as men's bags, neon, biker boots and dog tags were utilized as accessories.

Intellectuality was only showcased in this year collection with intellectual, updated men’s suits in sheer hues and patterns. The outfits were accessorized with neckties, men’s footwear and men’s office handbags.

Donatella herself wore an exquisite black leather dress accentuated with gold studs, not different from the men’s collection.

Thumbs down

Looking around the Versace’s fall/ winter collection, it became apparent that Donatella was desperately trying to showcase something unusual without compensating with the authentic Versace‘s taste. But, there still remained a susceptible void that helped identify Versace’s major fashion flaw in its collection.

Ensembles like pinstripe suits and leather jackets with bold embellishments were the first ones that we discarded off from the regular men’s closet. These outfits looked more like dramatic and uber feminine that no casual men would love to don. Extra detailing on some of the outfits also helped diminish their wear-ability quotient.

Another drawback that one can easily pick from this Versace collection was its boring pieces and mismatched ensembles. Bold outfits paired up with bold accouterments looked totally unappealing, a little feminine and over the top.

Unless you are an extreme fashionista, a rapper or a Hollywood celebrity or maybe a trend maniac, you are not qualified for wearing this not-so happening Donatella Versace’s winter collection.
