Fashion stylist turned designer Rachel Zoe is known for her trademark long hemlines in shades of blue and raspberry. Her pre fall 2012 collection comprises structured pieces, faux fur, maxi dresses, flared pants and military inspired jackets. The prints are full of neutrals with red, sky blue and fushia splashes. It’s fantastic!

Highlights and styles implemented

In this pre fall’s debute Rachel Zoe wanted to add a lot of mod elements to the season. We can see usual Zoe classics twisted with some new trends. There has been a few alterations on her signature suiting but a special addition this time is the introduction of a new chic pencil skirt. The leathers and faux fur from the 70’s are amazing.
The entire collection has taken a turn for the chic. Zoe has merged more tailored shapes into her bohemian style. Most of the designs incorporate structure and lush materials and these are not giving in easily to the 60’s and 70’s style. You will notice that the separates and outwear specially this time have been strongly inspired from military details which only adds to the oomph factor in a sultrier way. And the fabulous coats that Zoe is famous for have been given double breasted segment treatment with shades of all bright colors.
These slim fit jackets toughen up the sleek, ultra feminine maxi dresses. Coming to the 70’s style which is pretty much still here, there are beautiful and spectacular slim to the floor flares, pussy bow blouses and dresses as well as glamorous shaggy fur vests. The rocking thigh high slits and tattered hemlines will surely make you fall for such sophisticated touches. The neutral palettes are overwhelming. There are saturated pops of red, berry and sky blue along with muted florals and graphic prints. The main idea is feminization of menswear in an extremely charming and flattering way.

Zoe has specially worked on the 60’s styles. She has been synonymous with both the flaring pants and caftans. Her collection poses a new approach to the 60’s mod mini-dresses and the Jackie Kennedy style dressing where rose gold brocade coat matches the sleeveless top and the cropped pants. Zoe has dug in deep for finding the perfect shades of red and she has done well with neat and sleek red peacoat. The fabrics are awesome. The faux fur feels real and trims a vintage-looking fitted leather jacket, the black and white crocodile- print silk jersey looks stunning after being cut into backless halter gown.
What makes the pre fall collection click?

Zoe expanded her trademark bell bottoms, and 1960’s references to modern minimalist shapes similar to the works of Calvein Klein. Her work offers silhouette for every body shape. The clothes are friendly and mix and match type which blend just perfectly whether it’s a business meeting with your client or a whole night party session. The sexy and posh feminization of menswear just seems to work right for every girl.
Style Guru Verdict
Every look is in itself a quintessential embodiment of the Rachel Zoe look. It has got every flavor and chutzpah in each of the outfits: tailored, slouchy formal, informal long, short and trendy, retro hippie urban. The fabulous thing to notice is that the form and structure used in the designs do not take them out of the realm of ‘classics’. They can be the perfect investments as these outfits are truly timeless in terms of the fabrics used, shapes cut, and color combinations given.
Rachel Zoe has an amazing staying power in the fashion industry. No wonder she has styled some of the topmost Hollywood actresses. They are so stunning and amazing that you get obsessed with them. Talking about her every single piece, her classy peacoats, sexy mini dresses, skinny denim, cropped leather jackets, floaty, chiffon maxi dresses paired with elbow length gloves and ankle boots, faux fur sleeves and collars, white shirt and black trousers combinations are totally alluring.
Kudos to Zoe as she knows how to make the designs work for every type of figure. Zoe also accessorizes the looks with sunglasses and gloves and cute frills as dress elements. The colour palletes are rather dark and comprise of black, taupe, grey, cream and mustard hues. She is actually known as a celebrity stylish but she is making great progress as a fashion designer. She has not designed a lot of collections so far but her collections do clearly make a stand for a highly chic, elegant, ultra feminine, timeless and sophisticated look.
