Lanvin Spring 2013 offers a sprut of colors along with the regular black and white combo

For Lanvin’s Spring 2013 showing, designer Alber Elbaz presented an interesting new twist on the time honored black and white theme that somehow meandered neatly into a more rainbow inspired line. By redefining the traditional hues, Elbaz looks to cater to the demand of the daily routine of his target customer while empowering them via the fine cut of the fabric. Rather than duplicating the trend set by Marc Jacobs in New York, the designer used deep-V necklines on little black dresses and gave his pantsuits the extra detailing. The sexy, skin-baring shirts and frocks provided the perfect alternative to the strong-shouldered suits that seemed to draw inspiration from the ‘80s style of menswear.

The jackets came with a variety of lapels though the other black pieces were decorated to the tee with rhinestones and sequins. Purity and precision returned to the line towards the end where Elbaz brought in simpler pieces in black and white. The designer however, did return to his theme for the past decade with a number of rainbow hued lighthearted dresses in geometric and less fussy patterns. Blending colors like purple, chrome, teal and yellow, the satin color block dresses came accessorized with jeweled necklaces, chokers and chunky bracelets. Even though the theme did not center around a single theme, it certainly offered something for everyone.
