The 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival kick started this week under the warm sun, as fashionable A-list flocks from all around the corner glided down to the French Riviera in their ultra-chic attires. Even the two minutes of swankiest red carpet walk turned out to be a perfect amalgamation of umpteenth incredibly gorgeous silhouettes and countably invisible list of fashion sins. If the full-on glamorous fashion put-ups at the first two days of the festival is anything to go by, then we could expect a whole lot of finest sartorial selections. Putting up all the fashion details on the same platter, here's our list of the good, the bad and the ugly style moments of 2012 Cannes so far! Scroll down and see some noticeable red-carpet moments.
Eva Longoria upstaged all the beautiful starlets at the red carpet with her finest wardrobe preferences. Her affinity for heavy gowns continues to wow the crowds. First off, with her ruffled Marchesa gown and then with her two-toned Alberta Ferriti frock, the former "Desperate Housewives" beauty sparkled all the way in front of tuxedo-clad photographers. Well, for the record, that's just the beginning!
Though Kara decked up in an incredibly designed Louis Vuitton dress, the 13-year-old star failed to lift up the glam quotient that the dress and her silhouette truly deserved. Apart from the dull shine of the dress, Kara seemed a little lost and awkward in the murky of her immensely creative outfit.
Looking ethereal and sophisticated, Diane Kruger tugged on the right fashion cord both on Day 1 and Day 2. Whilst Diane showed off her fashion eccentricity with her Gaimbattista Valli Couture sea-colored one shoulder gown, her equally feminine lacy two-toned Jason Wu dress that she graced the next day added more brownies to her style. She even pulled off a lace-up string burgundy dress by Versus like a pro!
When it comes to fashion, Tilda Swinton is known as a risk taker. So, it wasn't a surprise to see Tilda in another risk-taking outfit as she sported her favorite label Haider Ackerman. Lending an architectural approach to a silent beauty, Tilda Swinton accented her dress with only a tinge of bright lip color. Good or Ugly, you decide!
The Russian reality star, Elena Lenina payed no attention to her wardrobe selections. Or, maybe she did, as she is known for decking up in bizarre outfits. She dressed herself in a hood-style dress that made her look like a stylish Russian mob.
Attempting to bring her homeland to the red carpet, the Chinese actress Fab Bingbing slipped in a Christoper Bu number. Overtly colorful and not-so impressive design and patterns exuded only tackiness off her silhouette. However, on Day 2, the actress tried to rectify her erroneous style selection with a gorgeous Elie Saab Couture gown with a matching cape.
Two days, two styles! Marion Cotillard brought on both glitz and glamor to the event with her peachy Christian Dior frock featuring a cinched shiny belt around her waist and then an equally breathtaking black sweetheart bodice gown by the same label. Both the Christian Dior gowns worked on her in a stunning fashion.
"The Help" star Jessica Chastian opted for an unflattering Alexander McQueen dress for the Cannes opening ceremony that lent her an equally unflattering silhouette. Her envious figure was unfortunately hidden in the lumpy perimeter of her low-cut baggish gown. So, that's certainly a fashion miss, sweetheart!
The Slumdog Millionaire actress had the crowds talking as she embraced some of the hot-n-happening gowns from elite fashion houses. On Day 1, Freida left the fashion police gawking with her strapless Michael Angel pepulm-styled gown, which was followed by an impossibly chic black Versace number for the evening dinner. Later, on Day 2, the actress indulged herself in designer outfits as she flaunted a lime green Atelier Versace gown, and then an eccentric Paco Rabane dress for the evening bash. Way to go, girl!
Falling prey to the serious fashion faults, Hofit Golan channeled a see-through dress at the red carpet . Despite the dress featured exquisite designs and the color was also voguish for the event, something was definitely missing. Needless to say, the dress didn't look good on her at all!
"The Artist" fame Berenice Bejo looked picture-perfect and delivered full-on glamor drama with her stunning Louis Vuitton dress. Keeping her accessories understated and minimal, the actress opted for a box shaped clutch and a golden bracelet.
Even at the age of 74, Jane Fonda looked way hotter and stunning than her age. Jane brought her top game at the red carpet as she wore a black and white Rust and Bone illusion gown, which she accessorized with emerald drop earrings. She, unarguably, outshone all the young starlets at the Cannes! Don't you agree?
Lana Del Ray looked simple yet sophisticated in an ever-stylish black number by Alberta Ferritti. The gown, which featured ruffled edges at left, was perfectly paired up with a shimmery black clutch and a thin silver statement necklace.
When you are off to attend Cannes, you ought to be at your fashionably best even when you are in the shower or yacht, for that matter! Not that it concerns us, but Shemar Moore posed for the flashing cameras in an inappropriate shirtless attire. Not-so classy take on fashion for such a revered film festival!
Looks like Naomi Watts, who plays Princess Di in her upcoming movie, is no mood of ditching her royal silhouette. For attending the Cannes, the actress nailed the royal look with her elegant ecru feathered gown by Marchesa. Understated accessories like Choprad diamond studded earrings and a retro up-do added to the sophistication and charm of her simple style.
