The skating industry seems to bring a change in its trend, the year being 2012. More companies are working hard to gain an edge over the competitors in the field and aim at reducing the costs. Some skating companies such as Element and etnies have been working hard to keep the movement of sustainable skate fashion for decades. It was noticed in the year 2011 that sustainable skate fashion was spreading in full speed. Since then it has been easy to find things like buttons, wallets, belt buckles, sunglasses, etc. These materials were made from recycled skateboards. Even skate shoes, outerwear and shirts are also being made from recycled materials.

Some skaters believe in sticking to the style and brands which they have followed since their practice years. They don’t like following the modern trends. For them old is gold. 2011 saw many of the skate brands which celebrated their anniversaries grandly. Airwalk was one of the skate brands which too celebrated its anniversary. The anniversary celebrations were followed by re launch of the popular skate shoes. The retro graphics were seen on t shirts as well as skate decks. This trend is sure to stay for a longer time.

The year 2011 saw the development of skate fashion in collaboration with technology. Such an example was found on Tooks website. The Tooks is involved in manufacturing hats which have headphones built in each of them. The other such examples also included the athlete performance monitoring device and wearable digital camera. Well it was already seen that cameras have made their way into the skate shoes, some were built into writ guards and some on top of the skate helmets. The performance monitoring device is found in the sports shirts, bras and even pants of some of the athletes.

4. Eye catchy colors

Skaters are considered to use bold and powerful patterns. This inspired designers to use some strong and bold colors to create some outrageous graphics that will be seen in 2012 skating apparel. Already the 2012 model Vans skate shoes in neon pink color have been up for sale in eBay. While some of the people may not be contended with just those neon shoes, you must not worry. Skate fashion has already headed in the direction of such change. The hip hop singer Lil Wayne will be launching a range of skate apparel in the year 2012.

5. DIY passion

Well, skaters are unbelievably independent. They like to create what they like or imagine. It goes same for the gears that they use. They are attached to their work and so the look of it. Today, skaters have been seen creating their own skate shoes, t shirts and pants. Etnies, the skate company, has a program that allows skaters to create their own design for shoes. But the program was discontinued later. It is expected that skaters will create their own skate fashion in the year 2012 whether there is any particular program for it or not.
