Philips plans to commercialize a 'smart fabric' that can interact with people.

Royal Philips Electronics has teamed up with a fashion designer to unveil a collection that features tiny lights embedded in clothing that can bring vivid and moving images to your pajamas or cocktail dress.

A typical marriage of sensors and communications technologies with fabric, the concept has a lot of applications other than just creating pretty clothes.

The clothes will feature video images recorded in Chicago and Antwerp.

The batteries and electronic parts will have to be removed while washing clothes.

Adding to the concept of smart fabrics, Eleksen, a public company in the United Kingdom, has turned its know-how into fabric touch pads for consumer gadgets, from MP3 players and full-size keyboards for PDAs that can be roll out.
