Outshining Milan and Paris, New York has emerged as the most fashionable city in a recent poll conducted by California based Global Language Monitor.

Topping the list for most fashionable cities of 2007 are New York, Rome, Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, and Singapore.
New to the rankings this year were Berlin (No. 11), Shanghai (No, 14), Moscow (No. 16) and Dubai (No. 24). Other striking rankings included the Fashion Quartet of South America: Santiago, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Palo, and Buenos Aires. Another notable point was the 25th rank of Krakow city, which made to the ranking probably because of its emerging status as center of neo-Bohemian influence.
Millie Lorenzo Payack, Fashion Correspondent and Director of the Global Language Monitor said,
The ranking is surprising in a number of ways, most of which relate to the changing nature of the Global Fashion Industry. Cities that recently would have been considered fashion backwaters - or worse, are now emerging as significant regional hubs.
GLM's ranking relies on an algorithm that tracks words and phrases appearing in print and electronic media and on the web. The words and phrases are then tracked for the context that they are used in and their frequency.
