Lily Allen: the new face of Chanel?

Is Chanel looking to do away with its spick-n-span upper class spokeswomen and replace the diva-esque aura typically associated with the label's ladies with a wild-child?

The 'hot news' that is doing the rounds in fashion circles these days is that singer/songwriter Lily Allen could be the new face of Chanel. And if that is indeed correct then the 21 year old pop sensation will find herself in a rather unusual place for her style but in some pretty good company.

Following in the footsteps of demi-goddesses Nicole Kidman and Kate Moss could be a tough ask for the singer know for her chav-like gold jewellery and pairing vintage prom-style dresses with trainers.

Ever since she burst onto the scene, lily Allen has garnered a lot of attention with her attitude and her out of the ordinary style if not for producing awesome music.

But how does the young singer, who by-the-way has been expelled from several schools, fit into Chanel's image as a luxurious, expensive and sophisticated brand?

Karl Lagerfield is convinced her signature style - chav meets couture - is going to be THE look of 2007. But then again only recently Marni was convinced that men will be wearing leggings out in public by fall and Prada swore on turbans being the new must-have in 2007.

So how will they make Allen coo coyly in a black Chanel gown? Will they let her throw a sweat-shirt over it? Honestly I'm not able to picture what it's going to be like at all. But trust you me, WE will definitely be watching this space.
