Every Week, you read something synonymous to a fashion or trend forecast. But it is a consequence of the machinations of a cabal of leading designers, manufacturers, models and the press.
I too follow the trail of other columnists and report trend after trend.
But I think, its time to get to the bottom of all this sweet arrangement.
Do you actually pay heed to such pieces of writing or do they really influence you purchasing decisions? I guess not.
Almost two years in advance, it is decided what most of us are gonna be wearing in winters two years hence. Whether, it is velvet, shrugs, animal prints, balloon skirts or boots. Or may be the Russian influence, the yin-yang (black-and-white theme) and corsage (big flowers) for the summers.
Most designers, exporters, stores, fashion experts, critics and magazines in Europe are hand-in-glove in this conspiracy that is known by the neat name of fashion forecasting. Some particular trend is hyped up, leading designers design it, iconic figures don it and finally, the paparazzi circulates it.
Kinda vicious circle, in which the innocent masses are sometimes taken for a ride.
As for myself, I might also cut short on trend reporting.
