Stuff like fashion and trends might sound cool to a normal person, however, for the visually impaired, one may think its stupid.
23-year-old Dawson Ko, who lost his sight at an early age of 20, has created an online community for blind youngsters who don't want to be left behind in the race of fashion. The forum provides fashion articles and tips, which the blind members can interpret using screen reader software. The community is called 'Fashionable Eye For The Blind Guy . . . And Gal'.
Dawson thought of the fashionable idea when he was going around with now-girlfriend Priscilla Ho.
I didn't know how she looked. She used to describe to me in emails what she looked like and what she wore on a night out. She'd tell me the different changes in fashion, and it kept me in the loop, and I felt other people could benefit. Just to know what's out there, even what girls are wearing, is interesting to me,
he said. Dawson then asked his friends from varied cultures and stylistic interests to write short fashion based articles for the online forum, and this is how the community came into being.
The site which now attracts blind fashionistas from different parts of the world, helps the vision-impaired boost their self-esteem, feels Dawson.
