It is that time of the year again. A time of intense media speculation, high fashion and wardrobe malfunctions. Wills Lifestyle is going to hold its 9th edition of India fashion Week from March 21 to March 26, 2007. Country's top notch designers are all set to present their Autumn-Winter collection at the Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi.
Besides providing a great platform to designers for showcasing their talent, the WIFW also offers a one-of-its-kind opportunity to young models and designers to make a mark for themselves in the world of glamour. WIFW promises to promote new talent by means of its 'Hi-Five category' for designers and 'New Faces Going Places' for models.
Fashion Weeks mean extreme anxiety, nervousness and adrenaline highs for designers, hairstylists, models, and choreographers. With competition from other fashion weeks (read Lakme Fashion week), the WIFW will have to do something out of ordinary to remain in the limelight. A calculated malfunction of some sort cannot be ruled out.
WIFW was started as an initiative to bridge the gap between the buyers and the designers. However, the business aspect of the show seems to have been overshadowed by the spice and glitz provided by the glamour world.

Last year, some biggies from Bollywood lent their support to the WIFW. Some famous names that scorched the ramp in the WIFW 2006 were Arjun Rampal, Riya Sen, Urmila Matondkar, kareena Kapoor, and Shahid Kapur. It is ironical that the Indian fashion fraternity that boasts of having a strong existence in itself has to still rely on some Bollywood charm to create some magic. What remains to be seen is which Bollywood star is going to grace the ramp this year.
