Italian designer Dolce & Gabbana plans to open its first directly operated outlets in India. Dolce & Gabbana, known for its big cat prints and gold glitz, plans to open two boutiques in New Delhi by the end of the year.

Cristiana Ruella, the group's managing director said,
We see this project as the first step of a long-term investment plan.There is no doubt that India is a promising market with great potential.
Dolce & Gabbana has a total of 90 directly-operated stores worldwide.
Italian designers Gucci and Giorgio Armani are also moving into the country and non Italian brands like Burberry, Cartier, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Tommy Hilfiger already have their outlets in India.
Dolce and Gabbana's Italian competitor Versace opened a shop in Mumbai last year that got publicity boost in the country when British beauty Liz Hurley wore a Versace dress for her wedding to businessman Arun Nayar in India.
