Dolce and Gabbana launched their Fall/Winter 2011 collection in May showcasing garments for both men and women. The theme of the collection was star motifs, which were used as embellishments on the dresses, bags, shoes and jewelry. The styles and attire were chic and elegant as were the choice of colors - black and white. Black was the main color applied to the clothes, while white had been used as an accent and background color. There were patterns in white as if being painted on a black canvas.
There were a number of cocktail dresses and tuxedos in lace which were the main accentuating elements of the show. The pant suits were very masculine, as they had tuxedos and long knee length coats with broad shoulders. There was a lot of use of fur on the collars and sequin embellishments on the coats. The dresses were paired with brogue shoes and solid color socks. The overall look was a very 40s appearance. The theme dresses were evening dresses. The tuxedoes were also paired with knee-length trousers, which is unusual.
There were stars on everything that came down the runway. On the dresses, the tuxedoes, the jewelry, the bags even the shoes.
