Halloween is the time to dress up in a spooky costume and celebrate the season with gaiety and fervor. If you are one of those who love the Halloween season, especially all the spooky parties, then you definitely need to run through your check list. Be very careful about what you decide to wear at the Halloween bash as you would not want to overdo the 'scary' part. Here are a few do's and don'ts to help you decide your look.

Do's

1. Hot and saucy

Yup, it may be Halloween but you can still look hot and sexy in a devilish avatar. There are various characters that inspire this look. For example, Morticia Addams from 'The Addams Family', the tall, slender mother who dressed up in tight, black hobble gown. It's not tough to combine the sexy and scary look. You need to get your make-up right, which should be on the darker side (black and smoldering kohled eyes give you that sexy, hot look). So remember to look your hottest best this Halloween.

2. Be creative

The most common look that one comes across at almost every Halloween party is either of a witch, cat or a bad princess. These looks have become so boring that it is hard to stand out donning these. So go in for something else, something more creative. Choose some character out of your favorite horror film, but again remember not to overdo the look. If you are out of ideas we suggest simply don a vintage dress in a hot color, say bright red, and teem it up with an eerie head piece.

3. Find a costume buddy

It's better to find a partner when you don weird costumes. After all, two is better than one and if your partner looks as crazy as you, then you would not be facing the stares alone. In fact, if both of you decide together on a pair of costumes, you are less likely to make a fool of yourself. As far as the looks are concerned, you can opt for some couple that featured in a scary film or a cartoon series. The cowboy look is also a hit among boys, the girls need to turn it feminine if you want to look like a super cowboy couple this Halloween.

4. Simple is sweet

It is not a compulsion to wear heavy make up or a tacky and complex dress. In fact, you would be surprised at the way people react to your simplistic look. Keeping it simple is 'in' and you need not worry about being the odd one out. The best thing about a simple dress is that people will easily understand what you are wearing and will also remember it for some time.

5. A fairytale ending

Remember how Cinderella ran off from the party as the clock struck twelve? She had no other option, but you do. Dress up as your favorite fairy-tale star and light up the Halloween bash. Give this Cinderella some extra time at the party or the Little Red Riding Hood a safe haven. Simply put, turn your evening into an amazing fairy-tale, everyone will love it.

Don'ts

1. No lingerie please

It's Halloween, not a beach party. So please do not wear your skimpy lingerie at a Halloween party, it's is a complete no-no. Many people think that wearing a skimpy dress with some weird prop is enough to stand out. Unless you think that you look scary in your lingerie, don't wear it. Besides, you do want to leave something to imagination, so never over expose.

2. Don't oversize

Do not go about the party hitting people, drinks and other stuff. Never super size your outfit as it not only looks tacky but also does nothing to make you look hot. It hides you and you look like an object. We agree that Halloween is about wearing scary stuff but you definitely do not want to scare people off.

3. No bloody makeup

Dressing up as vampires is OK but that doesn't mean that you have to do bloody make up. It simply doesn't look good. Besides, it is passe. So, stay away from all the bloody stuff.

4. No body paint

If you are planning to get hot and heavy at the Halloween bash, then do not paint your body. We all know how parties are and you are bound to kiss someone or kissed by someone. But, if you have paint on your body then the other guy/gal will think twice before coming near to you. Plus, you would not want to leave him/her all gooey and sticky with all that liquid.

5. Don't be afraid

If you are late and have nothing special to wear, then don't be afraid to make an appearance in your simple ball gown. Just pick up a mask and teem it up with a prom-style dress. You'll not only look stylish but very elegant as well.
