Complexity level: Easy

Time required: one hour

Resources required

  1. Old denim jeans
  2. Scarf
  3. Scissors
  4. Needle
  5. Thread
Instructions

1. First, open your jeans and keep it back side up.

2. Using the scissors, cut off the back pockets, leaving the top stitch on the jean pockets intact.

3. The back pockets must be removed along with the lining fabric so that this can be used for stitching on to the scarf, leaving the front part of the pocket neat and free from stitches. Pull out all the excess thread that has frayed out from the sides and from the broken stitches, if any.

4. Iron the pockets to make them firm and free from creases.

5. Now that your pocket is neat and free from puckers, you can stitch it on to the scarf.

6. Keep the scarf fixed on to a table and identify the position where you have to stitch the pockets.

7. Ideally, you can leave about two inches from the bottom and place the bottom part of the pocket at this point.

8. Take needle and thread and stitch the pockets on to the scarf. Make sure that the stitch does not get misplaced, or else the pockets positioning can go wrong after the completion of the project.

9. Try and use the same color thread as the pocket color so that the stitches remain invisible and neat.

10. Make sure that you check the position frequently so that you do not have to undo the stitches if anything goes wrong.

11. Your DIY pocket scarf is ready for use. Team it up with a nice leather jacket or a knit sweater or even over a printed or a striped dress.

Frequently asked questions
