Way back in the good old days handmade knitwear was something both kids and adults wore proudly and having an animal knitted at the front of your sweater wasn’t something that would get you laughed at in school or in the office. However, novelty knitwear has seen something of a mini revival in the recent years with a small section of urban youth as well as a few Hollywood celebrities patronizing the trend in their own way.

This kind of knitwear usually comes with a dog, cat, fish, horse or a bird printed on the front panel and adds a spark of vibrancy to otherwise monochromatic color schemes of winter wear.

The big question with the trend, however, remains whether or not it’s a tad too juvenile for grownups to wear. But, we live in a world where t-shirts with messages on them are an ageless hit and people do not mind wearing clothing with bold and chunky brand logos and by that justification walking around wearing a sweater with a animal printed on it should not bother anyone too much.

But if you’re the kind of person who like to dress their age, you’d be better off remembering that this kind of knitwear would probably be best suited to kids, teens and young adults who would look good pairing it with short skirts or denims and sneakers. For anyone over 25, we’d say animal novelty knitwear is a big no-no.
